What is Screencast-o-Matic?

Screencasting allows you to make Internet deliverable “movies” of anything you can see on your computer screen, accompanied by an audio narration track.  You can then distribute your movie through Blackboard, as a downloadable movie file, or as a link to the file on a hosted server. This service can be a marvelous way to easily capture and make readily accessible short “lecture” content, visual information, step-by-step procedural instructions,  or homework feedback. Screencasting is also handy if you are looking for a way to invite your students to make class presentations.

Screencast-o-Matic is a free online service that allows for up to 15 minute presentations.

How can I use Screencast-o-Matic in my class?

There is one reason to use screencasting in your class – for presentation. Using it yourself to deliver lecture content OR having your students use it to present back to you and the class…the options are open!

Screencasts once uploaded to YouTube can be embedded in Blackboard or your class website or blog.
